Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sondra ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Binding execution: instantaneous upon install.
Description of Service
Sondra is an AI-powered audio recording and transcription application for Android. It allows you to record audio, generate transcripts via Deepgram's speech-to-text API, and produce AI summaries and action items via Google Gemini — all stored locally on your device.
Core functionality is available for free with a monthly AI usage limit. A Pro subscription unlocks unlimited AI usage.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use Sondra. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Account Registration
To use Sondra you must create an account using either:
- check_circle Google Sign-In (via Android Credential Manager), or
- check_circle Email address and password (via Firebase Authentication)
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Subscription Plans and Billing

"AI analyses" means any use of the AI summarization feature (summary generation, key point extraction, and action item extraction count as a single analysis per recording).
Pro subscriptions are billed through Google Play. Your payment method is charged at the start of each billing period.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Cancel anytime via Google Play Store → Account → Subscriptions. Access continues until end of paid period. No partial refunds.
Refund requests are handled by Google Play. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly.
5.6 Free Tier Reset: Free tier AI usage (5 analyses/month) resets on the 1st of each calendar month at 00:00 UTC. Unused analyses do not roll over.
Acceptable Use
You may use Sondra only for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- remove_circle Record conversations without the knowledge or consent of all parties as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction
- remove_circle Record, transcribe, or process audio that contains illegal content
- remove_circle Use the App to infringe any third party's intellectual property rights
- remove_circle Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- remove_circle Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or network infrastructure
- remove_circle Attempt to circumvent subscription quota limits or billing systems
- remove_circle Use automated scripts or bots to make calls to the App's backend services
- remove_circle Create multiple accounts to gain additional free-tier usage
Recording laws vary by jurisdiction. In many regions (including many U.S. states and countries under GDPR), recording a conversation requires the consent of all parties. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with applicable wiretapping, eavesdropping, and privacy laws.
Intellectual Property
You retain full ownership of all recordings, transcripts, summaries, and other content you create using the App. The App stores this content locally on your device. We claim no ownership over your content.
By submitting an issue report through the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that report solely for the purpose of improving the App's transcription and summarization quality.
The Sondra name, logo, app design, and underlying software are our intellectual property. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, brand names, or proprietary software except as necessary to use the App.
Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that AI transcription or summarization will be accurate or reliable; or that the App will meet your specific requirements.
AI transcription and summarization are imperfect technologies. Deepgram and Gemini outputs may contain errors, omissions, or misattributions. Do not rely on App-generated transcripts or summaries for legal, medical, financial, or other high-stakes purposes without independent verification.
Nothing in the App or its AI-generated outputs constitutes legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of profits, data, recordings, or goodwill; damages arising from unauthorized access to your account; or damages resulting from interruption of the App or third-party service outages (Deepgram, Gemini, Firebase, Google Play).
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 if no payment was made.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sondra and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

- chevron_right Your use of the App in a manner not permitted by these Terms
Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including Firebase, Deepgram, Google Gemini, and Google Play. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts, content, or policies of third-party services.
Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your Firestore data and Firebase Authentication record. Local data is removed when you uninstall the App.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or used the App to harm others. Pro subscribers terminated for cause are not entitled to a refund.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved by binding arbitration in [Your Jurisdiction], except that either party may seek injunctive or declaratory relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
- No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms or any rights under them. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor entity without restriction.
